Event Details

Beneficiaries are welcome to address Trustees at a special meeting of Trust Tairāwhiti on 18 November, as they consider all community feedback around the proposed sale of Eastland Network.
Trustees will also receive a final recommendation from Eastland Group following the commercial process. Beneficiaries have until 14 November to submit feedback through the Trust website ahead of this meeting.
The Trust and Eastland Group recently ran a community engagement roadshow, with hui held at Wharekahika, Ruatoria, Uawa, Gisborne and Patutahi to provide more information and rationale for the proposed sale, receive feedback and answer questions.
Further engagement sessions, including the Trust AGM in August, have helped inform beneficiaries.
The common themes from engagement to date have been around security of supply, potential impacts on power bills, how the proceeds will be spent and future energy resilience.
A list of frequently asked questions on the Trust website has been regularly updated in response to community feedback from all the engagements held to date. The online feedback form has been open since August.
Trust Chair John Clarke acknowledged those who had attended the various hui or had given feedback.
“We thank the community for their input throughout this process. Trustees look forward to being able to make a sound decision based on feedback and a large amount of work over 18 months.”
