An exhibition by Erena Koopu This exhibition is an extension of Erena’s expoloration of waiata in paint. These works are a translation of lyrical excellence, of iwi histories and whakapapa through visual expression. This time Erena extends the range of waiata used in paint by including waiata from important phases in her life. Erena uses abstract imagery inspired by the stories in these compositions, also attempting to encapsulate the emotions these songs portray when performed. The characteristics and imagery used in these works is similar, however, each art piece tells its own unique story
