Starting Tuesday 5th April we will be offering two free adult education courses per week. (through the EIT ACE programme). These will be run between 9am and 3pm at our HOEA RA! space, 63 Gladstone Rd, right next door to the gallery.These are designed to help develop your creative practice or – if you are a beginner – to help you start building your confidence in mahi toi/art making.Courses will be taught by our Hoea kaimahi, who all hold degrees (post and undergraduate) in Māori Visual Arts. All are welcome but spaces are very limited, so get in quick. Materials will be supplied – within reason. Creative projects will be developed in four week blocks. Tuesdays: Course Description- An introduction to creating visual or performance art works as a form of story telling.
Wednesdays: Course Description- An introduction to research-based art practice, this short course will encourage students (with guidance) to develop a work of art based around a common research topic (topic to be decided as a group during the first class). Any type of mahi toi is welcomed.
