For her next ONO installation Steph Barnett is bringing together a conversation around social media here in Te Tairāwhiti.
Social Media is playing an increasingly significant role in our social, cultural and economic lives. It has the potential to connect, educate, inspire, accelerate positive social change, and allow for entrepreneurial pathways; while simultaneously holding the power to divide, misinform, perpetuate unhelpful ideals, and cause addictive habits. Let’s deep dive with curiosity into this loaded kaupapa, learning from each other’s unique perspectives.
The conversation will use the Fishbowl formula – a group discussion method with an inner circle panel of speakers, with outside chairs around it. One chair is left empty so that people from the outer circle can join the discussion – as one enters, one must leave, enabling a dynamic, stimulating and varied group discussion.
Artists have been invited to prepare work to help spark a range of ideas for our kōrero. If you would also like to submit a piece of art, please contact Steph Barnett directly on 0273181069
