Dr Makarena Dudley (Te Rarawa, Te Aupōuri, Ngāti Kahu) will join us in Tairāwhiti for a talk about her research on mate wareware (dementia) from a Māori perspective and introduce her new Mate Wareware App for Māori: What happens in the brain when a person gets mate wareware? What can we do to help prevent mate wareware? How can whānau take care of and support a person with mate wareware? How do Māori experience mate wareware? Makarena will also introduce her new Mate Wareware App, which helps people affected by mate wareware and raises awareness of the condition.
You can also come and meet Dr Dudley at the Mātai tent at the A&P Show on Friday 15 October, with the Alzheimer’s Team. She can help you download the app or answer any questions you may have! A huge thank you to the Centre for Brain Research (CBR) and BRNZ for supporting Dr Dudley’s visit to Tairāwhiti.
