OPENING THE DOOR:
Understanding our Inner Landscapes
A one-day workshop with Sarah Tait-Jamieson,
Certified Hakomi Teacher
The word “hakomi” asks the question, “Who am I on these many levels of experience?” Using compassionate, curious and non-judgmental observation which we call mindfulness, we are able to visit these levels of our inner experience:
Thoughts & images
Much of what we can learn about ourselves using this mindful approach is not something we can “think” about or ‘know” because it is often generated by pre-verbal experiences, or instances of trauma that are held in the body and the limbic system. With carefully supported and guided mindfulness we can touch these experiences and come to understand how we adapted to life because of them. Often these old adaptations are out of date and limiting. With this new consciousness we are able to make changes that help us lead freer, fuller and happier lives. As neuroscience informs us, we are actually creating new, more productive pathways of feeling and thinking in our brain!
This workshop is suitable for anyone interested in exploration of their inner landscape. It is particularly useful for anyone working in the social services and health, as it will provide you with some simple safe tools for understanding the people you work with.
In this workshop you will:
Experience mindfulness and be shown ways to invite mindfulness in others
Come to understand how our physical bodies can become resources for safety and deeper awareness of ourselves
Learn some simple Hakomi tools to facilitate change and growth
